Why Don’t My Friends Have Acne and I Do?

Back in 7th grade, all the girls thought “Jonathan” (his pretend name in this article) was the “cuttest” thing and they wanted to get with him. He didn’t have to do a thing.

“Jonathan” always drank coke or coffee in the morning, and this guy had BABY SMOOTH SKIN.

I was SO jealous.

He literally just existed … and that was enough to make the girls LOVE him.

And here I was trying so hard to clear my skin, be good looking, and yet every morning I had to stare in the mirror at my pimply face with new zits forming around my nose everyday!

Was I cursed?

In a minute, I’ll get to why this happens but for now, I’ll tell you, don’t worry: life is fair.

We used to walk together to school all the time because he lived a few houses down from me and I would watch him drink his coke as we went to school thinking to myself, “This guy doesn’t even eat a proper breakfast and he still has better skin than me!”

At that time, I was 13 years old and I already had pretty bad acne by then. I tried a bunch of different soaps, topical creams, masks and none of it worked.

I ate a healthy breakfast, ate my vegetables and drank plenty of water like everyone told me and my skin still was breaking out everyday. None of that worked.

I went to bed early, I tried not to stress so much, I washed my face every time I sweat and put on aloe vera. I still had acne.

I asked “Jonathan” his secret.

He told me he didn’t wash his face, I was stressing out too much, and maybe I was eating “too healthy” and that I should drink coke like him for breakfast.

I tried that.

It made things worse.

So why did my friends not have acne but I did?!

The answer is that what they’re eating will eventually catch up to them and what you’re eating will eventually “catch” up to you too … if you find the “secret” formula I teach.

It took me years to find and finally make sense!

But when I was 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and still was breaking out, none of it made any sense, especially when I was trying harder.

So I tried their method and I didn’t try. It just made things worse.

WTF.

This question lingered above my head for years upon end. I would eventually start high school, end high school, start college, miss out on hundreds of opportunities to meet people, go to parties, have fun, and enjoy my life because I was so ashamed of how I looked.

To understand why your friends don’t have acne and you do we need to establish two truths:

TRUTH #1: Everyone is different

The truth is, all of our bodies are genetically designed differently.

We can accept this as truth, right?

Your friend’s dad may be balding but your dad may still have his hair.

You may need to wear glasses but your friend who uses his eyes just as much as yours (maybe even more) to watch TV, read in the dark, and play videos games still has perfect 20/20 vision.

You eat lots and lots of desserts and you maybe don’t gain as much weight as your other friend who can’t, for the love of God, figure out why she has a salad for a week and gains 10 pounds.

She’s also probably wondering …

WTF.

My point here is that we all know that our bodies are genetically different with a difference set of strengths and weaknesses. What works for you doesn’t necessarily work for your friend.

You may have weaker skin but will always have a full head of hair while your friend may have stronger skin but may end up going bald in his early 30’s (a lot sooner than normal people). Or maybe a third person has strong skin, strong head of hair but he gains weight really easily.

The combinations of this are endless.

TRUTH #2: You didn’t grow up in the same environment.

You don’t eat the same foods.

You’re not surrounded by the same stress levels.

You don’t have the same upbringing in terms of what you were fed as a baby and how much nutrients you received.

You may have not grown up in the same place or neighborhood.

There are thousands of different combinations here too.

My point here is to further prove the point of you and your friend did not grow up in the same environment and are therefore not the same.

QUESTION: DOES THAT MEAN THAT I’M DOOMED TO SUFFER WITH ACNE?

No.

Because we haven’t introduced a 3rd truth, you can change it all by changing your behavior.

TRUTH #3: You don’t have the same behavior as your friends.(SECRET)

So here’s the interesting that happened with “Jonathan” and me. Now that we’re almost 15 years older, we’re in our late 20’s, he’s actually started breaking out a little while my skin is clearer than ever.

He doesn’t know how to care for his body and smokes. You can see the different in health of his complexion. It’s going downhill from here for him.

However, I eat healthy, I work out regularly, I don’t smoke, and it’s reflected on my skin. My skin’s healthier than it was before, it’s healthier than his, and I get compliments on it all the time from people.

When I tell them about what I do and how I used to have terrible scarring acne, they tell me, “That’s impossible! I can’t even tell that you had acne before.”

I’ve tried to give “Jonathan” my advice but he doesn’t want to learn, he’s not ready to hear it yet. And if he’s not ready to learn, then I can’t teach him anything.

If this continues, eventually “Jonathan” will have to learn how to clear his acne and take of care of his body the hard way: through disease.

That’s why I believe that acne can be good for you because in trying to clear your acne, you can end up changing your entire life for the better.

And that’s what the 3rd truth is …

Your behavior can change your skin.

There’s a growing field called epigenetics and it’s the study of how our environment can influence various triggers in our genetic structure to bring forth different diseases or conditions.

There are a few really interesting videos such as this one that talk about what epigenetics is and how it might change the way we view things in science.

But ultimately, there are many studies that have documented twins that have the EXACT SAME BODY yet grow up living in different environments with different behaviors …

For example, one twin might go for a run and exercise every week, eat healthy and never smoke while the other never exercises, eats tons of fast food and smokes. Then the study quantifies and breaks down the health differences of the twins despite their identical genetics.

The HOW of how you live your life can give you more than just clear, beautiful skin, it can also give you brighter eyes, a nicer figure (if you’re a woman), more muscle and build (if you’re a man), more energy, stronger nails, healthier hair, etc …

And that’s what I had to do in order to clear my acne. It was more than just the “what.” It was more than just popping in a pill, it was certain behaviors that I had to integrate into my life beyond just the “what.”

Don’t worry, it’s nothing weird.

It’s actually, simple, easy, and very effective at clearing your acne and giving you beautiful skin in a matter of weeks.

Here’s the best part, it works EVEN if nothing else has worked for you in the past.

It’s because all these positive outcomes are manifestations of health when you are able to hit the key areas you need to for clear skin.

That’s what I teach in my programs.

So if you learn nothing else from this article, remember that life is fair. You’re struggling but that will lead you to learn.

And when you learn you will find answers; answers about more than just having beautiful skin, hopefully answers to a health and wellness.

In the end, when you finally have that CLEAR skin moment, you will be able to look back and understand why you had acne and your friends didn’t.

It was a blessing in disguise.
